Website Display Issues
One frequent question we get asked is why the website does not display or act properly for some users?
The most common reason for display and functionality issues is the type of browser that you are using.
Different browsers display web pages in different ways and to further complicate matters, different versions of the same browser will also read and display the website files differently.
Most common website display issues occur in Internet Explorer and the older versions are the most troublesome. For example a webpage viewed in Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) will look very different to that same page viewed in Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) or a more modern browser like Safari, Firefox, Chrome or the new Microsoft Edge.
So what’s the solution?
Well really, if you are experiencing display or functionality issues when using any of the FDM websites, you need to update your browser.
All FDM web based solutions have been built to the most up-to-date standards but this does occasionally cause a problem with some clients who use out of date browsers (Like IE8).
Unfortunately there is only so much that can be done to reduce the impact of these issues, whilst still being able to offer the features and usability that our clients require.
We would recommend updating your browser to the latest version of Internet Explorer or, even better, ask your IT department to download and install Google Chrome or Firefox for you.
Here are some examples of the FDM website displayed in various versions of Internet Explorer and also Google Chrome & Apple's Safari browser for comparison.
