To use Hi-mail correctly there may be a need to amend or adjust your document templates to comply with Hi-mails document automation and production processes. The 2 main areas that need to be considered are the Address Block and OMR clear zone. An OMR clear zone is a space on each page of the document that Hi-mail’s smart enclosing machines use to identify the page number and enclose your letters into envelopes.
Hi-mail’s address block size and position are based on Royal Mail’s approved dimensions for maximum postage discounts for machine readable mail.
Below are the measurements of Hi-mails Address block and OMR clear zone.
Address Block Position & Dimensions
The address block should be positioned 50mm from the top edge of the page and 23mm from the left hand edge. It should be 62mm wide and 40mm high.
- Top – 50mm
- Left – 23mm
- Width – 62mm
- Height – 40mm
Hi-mail uses address block re-location technology that will look for your address block on your document, based on the position set by the account or group administrator, and re-locate it to the correct position. Although this solves many cases of ‘out of position address blocks’ it also means that there will need to be sufficient clear space for the address block once it has been re-located by Hi-mail. As such we suggest setting the address block in the correct position as best practice.
OMR Clear Zone
The OMR clear zone is located in the bottom left hand edge of the document. It measures 15mm wide and 100m high from the bottom left hand corner of the document.
- Left – 15mm
- Height – 100mm
